§ MR. W. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, whether he is aware of the illegal detention in the hands of the printer of the lists of jurors for Tralee Union; what is the penalty attached to the bond for the non-performance of the printing contract; whether the Guardians will be compelled to receive and pay for printing executed subsequent to the date allowed by Law for its publication and delivery; whether Guardians, signing cheques for payment for printing, under such circumstances, would be liable to be surcharged by the Auditor of the Local Government Board; and whether full inquiry will be made with a view of preventing similar malpractices, and enforcing the Contractor's bail bonds?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURA letter of complaint on this subject was received by the Local Government Board on the 23rd instant, and was referred to the Guardians for their observations. The 1139 matter, I understand, was before the Guardians at their meeting yesterday, but the Board have not yet been informed what decision they may have come to on the subject.
