§ DR. TANNERI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether any steps will be taken to secure the construction of a bridge at Ringabella Ferry Point; and, if this scheme has not repeatedly obtained the sanction of the Local Government Board in Ireland?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURI am informed that the erection of this bridge was twice approved of at Presentment Sessions, but that, owing to the promoters not having applied for sufficient money to carry out the scheme, no contract was entered into, and the scheme fell through. The Local Government Board have no jurisdiction in the matter, and the Executive Government have no power to take such steps as are suggested.
§ DR. TANNERasked if the right hon. Gentleman would give his assistance in regard to this matter, which was of great importance, both to coastguards and police?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURI do not know that I have power to do so. It is a matter for which the Grand Jury are entirely responsible.
