HC Deb 26 August 1895 vol 36 c796
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether any steps are being taken to extend the telegraph from Poolewe to Aultbea, Laide, and Dundonnell, on the western mainland of Ross-shire; and if not, will arrangements be made to press on this much needed telegraph extension before winter?

* MR. HANBURY

Steps are being taken to extend the telegraph from Poolewe to Aultbea, under a guarantee. The Postmaster General is not in a position to carry out extensions to Dundonnell and Laide unless guarantees in those cases be also furnished. If the hon. Member would like to ascertain the terms, perhaps he will be good enough to apply to the Department.
