§ *SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucester, Forest of Dean)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether his attention has been called to the increasing prevalence of the evil known as "time-cribbing" in factories; and whether the services of the police could be utilised for the assistance of the inspectorate in putting a stop to that system?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. H. H. ASQUITH,) Fife, E.There is, I am informed by the Chief Inspector of Factories, no reason for believing that the practice of "time-cribbing" has increased. In several of the towns valuable assistance is given by the police, notably in Liverpool. Whether it is possible for them to give more help is a matter well deserving of consideration.
§ *SIR CHARLES DILKEasked whether the right hon. Gentleman would consider the advisability of issuing a circular calling the attention of Watch Committees to this matter?
§ MR. ASQUITHsaid, that he would consider the point.
