HC Deb 23 April 1895 vol 32 c1497
CAPTAIN DONELAN

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether any arrangement has yet been arrived at with the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company for the acceleration of the Irish Mail Service?

MR. ARNOLD MORLEY

As I stated before the Recess, the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company promised to send me certain data on which their estimate had been prepared. I have received these data during the last few days, and they are now receiving careful consideration.

MR. WILLIAM REDMOND (Clare, E.)

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when it is expected a decision will be come to in this matter?

MR. ARNOLD MORLEY

I cannot say more than I have already stated, that there will be no unnecessary delay in the matter.

CAPTAIN DONELAN

In view of the apparent impossibility of arriving at a decision with the Steam Packet Company, could not the right hon. Gentleman refer the matter to arbitration?

MR. ARNOLD MORLEY

No, Sir. I am afraid that would be an unusual course. It is impossible for the Government to refer a matter of this kind to arbitration.
