§ COLONEL C. E. HOWARD VINCENT (Sheffield, Central)
I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, if the recent personal representations of the Right Hon. Cecil Rhodes, Premier of Cape Colony, have modified in any degree Lord Ripon's refusal of the request made by the South Africa Company, that a cardinal article in the Constitution of Matabeleland and Mashonaland should prevent the duties upon British imported goods being increased.
§ THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. SYDNEY BUXTON, Tower Hamlets, Poplar)
The Secretary of State has not modified his views in regard to the matter mentioned in the question.
§ COLONEL HOWARD VINCENT
gave notice that he should call attention to this matter on the Civil Service Estimates, and move a reduction of the hon. Gentleman's salary.
