HC Deb 08 May 1894 vol 24 c690

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time."—(Mr. H. H Fowler.)

THE MARQUESS OF CARMARTHEN (Lambeth, Brixton)

said, there was some objection to the Bill on the ground that it, permitted the payment of interest out of capital. He did not think the measure ought to be taken at so late an hour.

MR. H. H. FOWLER

said, the Bill merely conferred upon the Indian Government the same powers as a Committee of the House would have to inquire into the merits of various proposals.

Motion agreed to.

Bill read a second time, and committed for Thursday, 24th May.
