HC Deb 01 May 1894 vol 24 c40
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland if he will state on what day he intends to introduce a Bill to amend "The Crofters (Scotland) Holdings Act, 1886"? In putting the Question, the hon. Member said: I should like to ask whether, having regard to the fact that one or more of the Government Whips made efforts to secure a "count" on Friday last—

* MR. SPEAKER

Order, order! I do not see the connection between that question and the question on the Paper.

MR. WEIR

Then may I ask the right hon. Gentleman to state whether it is the intention of the Government to include in their Bill of other northern counties in Scotland than those now dealt with under the Crofters Act of 1886?

SIR G. TREVELYAN

I cannot name a day for this Bill. The pledges of the Government only cover the extension of the benefits of the Crofters Act to leaseholders in the crofting counties. That is all we have pledged ourselves to do.
