HC Deb 01 May 1894 vol 24 c45
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the fact that six months has now elapsed since Her Majesty's Government decided to grant the prayer of the Petition of the Colonists of British Honduras for a gold standard of currency, whether the necessary arrangements have now been completed for bringing the now Currency Law into force; and, if not, when such may be expected to be the case?

MR. S. BUXTON

The Secretary of State has been furnished with the views of the Colonists as to the subsidiary questions involved in the introduction of a gold standard, and he is now considering, in conjunction with the Treasury, the details of the necessary arrangements, but no date can yet he fixed on which the change of currency will be brought into operation.
