HC Deb 12 June 1894 vol 25 cc898-9
MR. LUTTRELL (Devon, Tavistock)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, on account of insufficient house accommodation at Princetown, Dartmoor, the prison officers are, in many cases, separated from their families; and whether such accommodation will be provided as to prevent the necessity of such separation?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. ASQUITH,) Fife, E.

There are several cases in which prison officers are separated from their families on account of insufficient accommodation at Prince-town; but I am informed that there are now ten quarters for married officers in course of construction, and that it is intended to build others, and so the defect will be supplied.
