STUART-WORTLEY (Sheffield, Hallam)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to a printed circular issued to Members of this House by the Women's Trade Union League, headed Laundries and the Factory Bill; whether that circular refers to a document recently received, which it describes as the Laundries Report of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Factories; has any such Report been made by Her Majesty's Inspectors; and, if so, when; and has it been communicated to others besides the Women's Trade Union League?
§ MR. ASQUITHI had not seen the circular until my attention was called to it by this question. In October last I received Reports on the condition of laundries by the Factory Inspectors. A summary of these, with two Reports from lady Inspectors, was printed, and a copy seems to have come into the hands of the Women's Trade Union League, though it was not officially communicated to them. The Paper in question has been laid before Parliament.
