HC Deb 05 June 1894 vol 25 cc493-4

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time."

SIR C. PEARSON (Edinburgh and St. Andrews Universities)

asked for an explanation of the measure.

THE SECRETARY FOR SCOTLAND (Sir G. TREVELYAN,) Glasgow, Bridgeton

said, that they had received representations from Paisley in favour of an extension of the number of the Corporation from 18 to 24. That was a very reasonable proposal, and they were, therefore, desirous of amending the Act in that respect.

Motion agreed to.

Bill read a second time, and committed for Monday next.
