HC Deb 01 June 1894 vol 25 c170
MR. JORDAN

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury what measures have been adopted, or are proposed, in order to determine whether a satisfactory arrangement can be concluded between the Treasury and the interests concerned in promoting the independent management of the Sligo and Leitrim Railway; what is at present the state of affairs with respect to offers made by other Railway Companies; and whether, before taking any steps that may have the effect of handing over the Sligo line to any other Company, the Treasury will give such notice to the districts served by the Sligo and Leitrim line as may enable them to make a further statement of their proposals before a final decision is taken?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Sir J. T. HIBBERT,) Oldham

I am afraid that I am not yet in a position to make any further announcement with regard to this railway. I am, however, anxious to consider all legitimate interests, and I can promise that no arrangements for transferring the line shall be made without due notice being given to persons interested.
