HC Deb 27 July 1894 vol 27 c1125
MR. M'CARTAN

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that there is no polling station on the Island of Rathlin, which is situated so far from the County Antrim coast that the electors of the Island are practically disfranchised; and whether he will make inquiry to see if anything can be done to enable them to record their votes at Parliamentary elections?

MR. J. MORLEY

It is the case that there is no polling station on this Island. The nearest polling station is at Bally-castle, which is nine miles distant on the mainland. I am afraid it is not practicable to take any effective steps in the direction suggested. However, I shall make inquiry in the matter.
