HC Deb 24 July 1894 vol 27 c806
MR. THOMAS HEALY (Wexford, N.)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the duties of the clerks in the District Registry Offices of the Probate Court, Ireland, will be largely increased by the operation of Clause 13 of the Finance Bill, extending the jurisdiction of Inland Revenue officers in probate matters; and whether, seeing that these clerks are in receipt of small fixed salaries with no annual increase, any addition will be made in their salaries proportionate to the extra work thrown on them?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir W. HARCOURT,) Derby

The remuneration of these clerks will be considered if it is found on experience that the existing rates of pay are not sufficient.
