HC Deb 11 January 1894 vol 20 c1347
MR. DODD

I bog to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Homo Department, the Member for Leeds, what the objection of Her Majesty's Government or the Home Office is to granting the Return as to County Justices appointed since the Resolution of this House; and if any approximate statement can be given of the number of those appointed by the Lord Chancellor without the nomination of any Lord Lieutenant?

MR. ASQUITH

(who replied) said: The objection to granting the Return is that the Lord Chancellor is of opinion that it would be very difficult to make, and that when made it would be exceedingly misleading. I have sent my hon. Friend a form of Return we are ready to give.
