HC Deb 08 January 1894 vol 20 cc1028-9
MR. PAUL

I beg to ask the Solicitor General whether the period of 40 days during which objection may be taken by either House of Parliament to Rules framed by the Judges under the Judicature Act includes days on which such House, though in Session, does not actually sit; and what is the latest day on which this House could effectively address the Crown against the Rules laid upon the Table on 7th December?

THE SOLICITOR GENERAL (Sir J. RIGBY,) Forfar

The period of 40 days within which an Address may be presented by either House of Parliament for an annulment of the Rules made by the Judges under the Judicature Act does not include any day on which the House is not actually sitting. The rest of the question I am unable to answer, as I do not know on what days the House will sit.
