§ MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMANNo, Sir; it is not true. At present there are 13 unappropriated vacancies in the cavalry of the line, and 15 candidates for them will be ready within a fortnight. Besides these, there are at least 60 Militia officers who have qualified, some of whom would be available in case of emergency.
