HC Deb 15 February 1894 vol 21 cc458-9
MR. HOWELL' (Bethnal Green, N.E.)

I beg to ask the hon. Member for Merionethshire when the Return as to the charities in London, where the trustees have failed to render the accounts of such charities under statute, will be ready for issue to Members of this House; and whether the Government will grant a further Return of all charities, with the names of the trustees who have within the last five years failed to render their accounts as provided by statute?

THE PARLIAMENTAEY CHARITY COMMISSIONER (Mr. T. E. ELLIS,) Merionethshire

The Return referred to in the first paragraph will be ready not later than Monday next. The compilation of the Return asked for in the second question would involve considerable labour, and I regret that the Government are unable to undertake the work.

MR. HOWELL

Is it possible to tell the House the number of cases in which the Returns have not been given?

MR. T. E. ELLIS

I think the hon. Member will find the figures in the Annual Report of the Commission.
