HOZIERI beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether he will give an assurance that the Inspectors of Schools in Scotland will be instructed not to examine in the increased arithmetic requirements of the present Code until the issue of the next Code, by which time the teachers will have had an opportunity of preparing for the change?
§ SIR G. TREVELYANAs I have already stated, instructions have been given to the Inspectors in examining in arithmetic to make allowance for the increased requirements of the present Code, and these were embodied in a Circular of 16th May last.
