On behalf of the hon. Member for the Harwich Division of Essex, I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he can inform the House what the approximate cost has been for the past year of the various Commissions appointed by the Government?

The approximate cost in the year 1893–94 of Temporary Commissions and Committees appointed by Government was as follows:—Charged on Temporary Commissions Vote, £43,300; charged on Public Buildings Vote, £3,000—total, £46,000. In addition to this sum there is the charge on the Stationery Office Vote, as to which I have not yet received particulars, but, if desired, I will obtain the information.
