HC Deb 03 August 1894 vol 28 c6
MR. W. JOHNSTON (Belfast, S.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any decision has been arrived at as to the amount of the military contribution to be paid annually by the Straits Settlements; and if he will state the amount?

MR. HENNIKER HEATON (Canterbury)

also had the following question on the Paper: To ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is yet in a position to communicate to the House the decision arrived at by the Government on the amount to be paid by the Straits Settlements as its contribution to the military expenditure?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr S. BUXTON,) Tower Hamlets, Poplar

I have good reason to hope, and believe, that the decision will not now be long delayed.

MR. W. JOHNSTON

In thanking the hon. Gentleman for his invariable courtesy, I beg to give him notice I will ask the question again this day week.
