HC Deb 02 April 1894 vol 22 c1097
SIR G. BADEN-POWELL (Liverpool, Kirkdale)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can state which of Her Majesty's ships is now at Samoa, and the date of her arrival there; and whether he can give the House any further information as to the deplorable events reported to have occurred there, and the course Her Majesty's Government intend to pursue?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir E. GREY,) Northumberland, Berwick

There is no British ship of war at Samoa at present. Her Majesty's Consul reports by telegraph on the 22nd ultimo that there has been some trouble in Samoa, but that the presence of a man-of-war is not at all necessary, as an armistice has been arranged and a satisfactory peace is certain.
