HC Deb 22 September 1893 vol 17 c1896
MR. MACDONA (Southwark, Rotherhithe)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether, in consideration of the fact of so many coopers being out of work in London and in order to lessen the risk of carrying infection, he will order fresh casks to be made to carry the mails in, instead of using old casks which are hired by the Post Office Authorities from time to time?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir W. HARCOURT,) Derby

I am sorry to say that the Postmaster General is not here, but I am quite sure that he will consider the question of the old casks.
