I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he can state, up to the end of August, the number and aggregate amount of applications for land purchase under the Act of 1891 already sanctioned; the total amount of Land Stock issued; and the amount of Land Stock which has been exchanged for Consols under the powers given by the Act of 1891?

The number of loans applied for was 4,424, amounting to £1,492,278. The number of loans sanctioned was 2,486, amounting to £880,141. The number of loans issued was 1,648, amounting to £577,359. The amount of Guaranteed Land Stock taken by the Bank of Ireland in exchange for Consols down to August 31 was £202,734 19s. 9d.
