§ SIR E. GREYThe claims on the part both of French and British subjects to have acquired land by purchase appear to be remarkably extensive and vague. As a matter of fact, it was stated in 1891 that the area of land being cultivated by French subjects was about 100 acres, and that by British subjects somewhat less.
