HC Deb 16 September 1893 vol 17 c1407
MR. GIBSON BOWLES

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can inform the House why it was that H. M. S. Trafalgar, commissioned on the 2nd April, 1890, was paid off before H. M. S. Colossus, which was commissioned on the 19th March, 1890?

THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Sir U. KAY-SHUTTLE-WORTH,) Lancashire, Clitheroe

The reason is that, considering all the circumstances of the two ships and the requirements of the Public Service, it was the most convenient course to adopt.
