HC Deb 07 September 1893 vol 17 c456
MR. GIBSON BOWLES (Lynn Regis)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether, during the examinations in seamanship on the Britannia, the instructors in seamanship are allowed to be present; and whether he will consider the advisability of excluding the instructors from these examinations, and leaving the cadets alone with the examining officers?

THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Sir U. KAY-SHUTTLE-WOBTH,) Lancashire, Clitheroe

The answer to the first paragraph is that it is under orders of the examiners that the instructors attend during the examination; and to the second paragraph, that no reason is known for their exclusion.
