I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can state the total number of police employed to keep the peace on the day of the recent distraint for breach of the Vaccination Laws at Grays, Essex; how many were imported from outside the parish, and what was the cost; and is the cost borne by the county, the union, or the parish?

The Chief Constable of Essex informs me that the total number of police of all ranks employed was 28; the number imported from outside the parish was 21; and the total extra cost, which will be borne by the police district of Grays, was 16s. 4d.
