HC Deb 16 November 1893 vol 18 c1028
MR.W.M'LAREN (Cheshire, Crewe)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to an advertisement by the Barton Regis (Bristol) Board of Guardians offering re-vaccination gratis; and whether they have any legal right to spend money from the rates on gratuitous re-vaccination; if not, whether he will cause them to be informed that they are acting illegally?

THE SECRETARY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Sir W. FOSTER,) Derby, Ilkeston

I am aware of the notice which has been issued by the Guardians of the Barton Regis Union, Bristol, referring to an outbreak of small-pox, and offering gratuitous re-vaccination to persons who are resident within the Union and are over 10 years of age. The Guardians have clearly a legal right to pay for re-vaccinations by the public vaccinators, which are performed by them in conformity with the Regulations.
