MR.W.M'LAREN (Cheshire, Crewe)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to an advertisement by the Barton Regis (Bristol) Board of Guardians offering re-vaccination gratis; and whether they have any legal right to spend money from the rates on gratuitous re-vaccination; if not, whether he will cause them to be informed that they are acting illegally?
§ THE SECRETARY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Sir W. FOSTER,) Derby, IlkestonI am aware of the notice which has been issued by the Guardians of the Barton Regis Union, Bristol, referring to an outbreak of small-pox, and offering gratuitous re-vaccination to persons who are resident within the Union and are over 10 years of age. The Guardians have clearly a legal right to pay for re-vaccinations by the public vaccinators, which are performed by them in conformity with the Regulations.
