HC Deb 10 November 1893 vol 18 c657
MR. JEFFREYS

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is a fact that there is a scarcity of candidates for commissions in the Cavalry; and, if so, what steps he intends to take to remedy this state of things?

* MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

There have been from time to time difficulties in finding qualified candidates for commissions in the Cavalry; but at present, as soon as the result of the last examination of Militia candidates has been declared, there will be practically no vacancies.
