§ MR. DANEI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ire-hind whether he is aware that the house of a farmer named John Conran, at Trocken, County Wicklow, was attacked by armed men early upon Tuesday morning last, and his wife and servant woman both shot dead; whether any arrests have been made; and has Conran himself been afforded protection?
§ MR. ASQUITHIt is unfortunately the case that the two women referred to were shot dead on the night of the 15th instant. The police cannot find any confirmation of the suggestion that the house was attacked by a body of armed men. They do not consider it advisable in this stage of the case to discuss the matter, a course which might tend to interfere with their investigation.
§ MR. SEXTON (Kerry, N.)May I ask whether this was an agrarian crime, or whether it belongs to the class of outrages specially reported?
§ MR. ASQUITHAs far as I know, there is nothing whatever to show that it was an agrarian crime.
