Clause 1.

On the Motion of Mr. HENRY HOBHOUSE, the following Amendment was made:—In page 1, line 7, leave out "are the," and insert "were, on the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, the legally constituted."

On the Motion of Sir MATTHEW WHITE RIDLEY, the following Amendment was made:—In page 1, line 8, after "1892," insert "or for the execution of the Law relating to weights and measures under any local Act."

On the Motion of Mr. SNAPE, the following Amendment was made:— In page 1, line 14, after "time being," insert, "Provided that when the amount received by a county council from the execution of those Acts is in excess of the expenditure thereupon, a proportionate part of such excess amount shall be deducted from any sum due to such borough as a recoupment under the Contagious Diseases (Animals) Acts, or the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts respectively.
