HC Deb 08 May 1893 vol 12 c317

Order for Third Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Hill he now read the third time."—(Mr. M. Lagan.)

MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I object.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. MUNDELLA,) Sheffield, Brightside

I hope my hon. Friend will not object to this Bill. It has been through all its stages, and has come down from the Committee without Amendment. I would point out to my hon. Friend that it is unusual, when a Bill has been through Committee, and has received the approval of the Committee, that it should be opposed in its final stage without any reason whatever being assigned for it.

MR. WEIR

I object.

*MR. A. C. MORTON (Peterborough)

said, that some hon. Members gave notice that unless between the First and Third Reading of these Railway Bills something was done in the matter of railway rates they would oppose the Bills on the Third Reading, and, if necessary, throw them out altogether.

*MR. SPEAKER

Does the hon. Member persist in his objection?

MR. WEIR

I do.

Third Reading deferred till Tomorrow.
