SMITH-BARRYI beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the annuities for the repayment of advances made under "The Purchase of Land (Ireland) Act, 1885," and "The Purchase of Land (Ireland) Amendment Act, 1888," are among the sums which would be charged or chargeable on the Irish Consolidated Fund in favour of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom under the provisions of Clause 14 of the Government of Ireland Bill?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. W. E. GLADSTONE, Edinburgh, Midlothian)The advances made under the Purchase of Land Acts, 1885 and 1888, will be repaid by the Irish Exchequer to the Exchequer of the United Kingdom by means of the annuity set up under Clause 16 of the Bill; and this annuity will be charged upon the Irish Consolidated Fund by Clause 14.
