BUXTONThere is no "agreement" with the French Government; but the money in question is paid 883 to them in accordance with the legal principle that, if this country appropriates the surplus revenue of Cyprus to meet the liabilities of the Porte, France should be allowed to participate in the appropriation, as being one of the parties in whose favour the charge was made upon the general revenues of the Porte in case of default.
