I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether cigarettes of foreign manufacture, and artificially sweetened, may be lawfully imported into this country; and, if so, under what Customs or Excise Regulations such import takes place?

The importation of cigarettes of foreign manufacture and artificially sweetened is prohibited under Section 42 of the Customs Consolidation Act, 1876 (39 Vict., cap. 36), and the Manufactured Tobacco Act, 1863 (28 Vict., cap. 7, section 10).
