HC Deb 10 March 1893 vol 9 c1619
VISCOUNT CURZON (Bucks, Wycombe)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many samples of beer were analysed during the past year; how many were found to be adulterated with noxious ingredients; and, in any samples of beer found to be adulterated, what were the noxious ingredients?

SIR W. HARCOURT

There were 2,044 samples of beer analysed, for the detection of adulteration, during the past financial year. In no case was the existence of a noxious ingredient found.
