HC Deb 06 March 1893 vol 9 c1102
MR. GIBSON BOWLES (Lynn Regis)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether there is in existence at any naval port any school or system of practical instruction in naval tactics; and, if not, whether he will arrange for the establishment at one of the ports of such a school whereby, in addition to lectures on tactics, opportunities would be afforded to naval officers of practical work at tactics?

SIR U. KAY-SHUTTLEWORTH

There is no special school of Naval tactics at the ports, and in view of the demands on naval officers' time there is no present intention of instituting one. It is considered that active service in the Fleet is the proper school of naval tactics.
