HC Deb 03 March 1893 vol 9 cc959-60
COLONEL LOCKWOOD (Essex, Epping)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War what limit, if any, he proposes to place upon the amount of personal decoration, in the form of National badges, to be worn by individual soldiers on any National festal day?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

Until there is shown to be need to the contrary, I think this may well be included in the discretion given to Commanding Officers.

COLONEL LOCKWOOD

May I ask whether the permission will be extended to soldiers on duty as well as those off duty?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

That naturally would be left entirely to the discretion of Commanding Officers, who, as I said yesterday, are the best judges in the matter.
