HC Deb 02 March 1893 vol 9 cc802-3
MR. SEYMOUR KEAY (Elgin, &c.)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether, in view of the necessity recently imposed on the Government of refusing its sanction to a nomination to a Procurator Fiscalship of Morayshire, made by the Sheriff, and the consequent great delay in filling the appointment, he will consider the advisability of amending the Act of 1877 so as to place the nominations to the office of Procurator Fiscal in Scotland in the hands of the Secretary for Scotland?

THE SECRETARY FOR SCOTLAND (Sir G. TREVELYAN,) Glasgow, Bridgeton

The appointment to the Sheriff clerkship has been transferred by legislation from the Sheriff to the Crown, and presumably the same transference of appointment will take place as regards the Procurator Fiscalship.
