Member for Central Hackney, I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for India whether any dissents were recorded by members of the Indian Council, with reference to the Despatch of the Secretary of State, in regard to the proposal to hold simultaneous examinations for the Indian Civil Service in India and in England; and, if so, whether he will lay these dissents, together with the Despatch, upon the Table of the House?
MR. G. RUSSELLYes, Sir. Several Members of the Council have recorded their opinions on the subject of the Despatch referred to in the hon. Member's question. A copy of the Despatch, together with the record of the opinions of those Members of Council who differed, will be laid upon the Table of the House as soon as the Despatch is in the hands of the Government of India.
