said, that Amendments had been brought in which had satisfied the Government, and they had been inserted

MR. TOMLINSON (Preston)

said, the House had never been willing to take the mere testimony of a Minister of the Crown for the fact that the consolidation had been properly carried out. The Bill was of importance to a large number of people, and it ought to be referred to a Select Committee, or tested in some other way.

MR. HOWELL (Bethnal Green, N. E.)

said, there was no real extension of the law involved.

MR. TOMLINSON moved to report Progress.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Chairman do report Progress, and ask leave to sit again."—(Mr. Tomlinson.)
