HC Deb 26 June 1893 vol 14 c121

Bill considered in Committee.

(In the Committee.)

Clause 2.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Chairman do report Progress, and ask leave to sit again."—(Sir E. Harland.)

MR. PROVAND (Glasgow, Blackfriars)

appealed to the hon. Baronet to withdraw his objection, as the Bill contained only a couple of clauses, and was of a non-contentious character.

SIR F. S. POWELL (Wigan)

I hope my hon. Friend will withdraw his objection. The Bill is of the simplest character. The Shop Hours' Act empowers the appointment of Inspectors by Local Authorities, but by an oversight no provision was made for having their salaries placed on the rates.

Motion agreed to.

Committee report Progress; to sit again To-morrow.
