HC Deb 26 June 1893 vol 14 cc120-1

Order for Committee read.

MR. TOMLINSON (Preston)

objected.

MR. HAVELOCK WILSON (Middlesbrough)

This Bill has been three months before the House. The Amendments have been practically agreed to by the shipowners; and I hope the hon. Member who objects will remember the thousands of men who toil at sea and are half-starved, and for whose benefit this Bill has been introduced.

MR. TOMLINSON

It is quite true the Bill has been before the House for three months, but the Amendments agreed to by the shipowners are not the Amendments of which the hon. Member has given notice. His Amendments require careful consideration.

MR. HAVELOCK WILSON

The Amendments are down in my name, and have been agreed to by the shipowners.

MR. TOMLINSON

I object.

Committee deferred till To-morrow.
