HC Deb 20 June 1893 vol 13 cc1480-1
MR. JEFFREYS (Hants, Basingstoke)

I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether he is aware that unshaded electric lights are very injurious to the sight; and whether he will cause all the electric lights in both Library and Reading Rooms to be shaded as soon as possible?

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. SHAW LEFEVRE,) Bradford, Central

Since the Debate on this subject on the Estimates, frosted bulbs have been substituted for plain ones in the case of many of the lights in the Library and Reading Room, and they will be extended if they give satisfaction.
