I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the clauses in the Loudon County Council, (General Powers) Bill, giving to that body a certain number of representatives on the Thames Conservancy Board, have been struck out by the Select Committee of the House of Lords; and whether he will agree to the appointment of a Select Committee of this House at an early date to inquire into the constitution, powers, and composition of the Board of Conservators, as promised during the last Parliament?

Yes, Sir; I think there ought to be an inquiry by a Select Committee; but it is a matter for consideration whether, at this period of the Session, a Committee could be invited to enter upon such an inquiry. I will confer with confer with my hon. Friend in the matter.
