SAMUEL SMITHI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is the case that the Egyptian Government is preparing to legalise the sale of hasheesh; whether its sale is prohibited in Turkey and other Asiatic countries; and whether Her Majesty's Government will use its influence with the Egyptian Government to maintain its present policy of prohibition?
§ SIR E. GREYIts sale is prohibited in Turkey, but I cannot speak as to any other Asiatic country. We have no information to the effect that the Egyptian Government intends to change its present policy.
