HC Deb 06 June 1893 vol 13 c322
MR. DANE (Fermanagh, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland is he aware that, upon the night of the 22nd May, the National school at Gortaveha, County Clare, was broken into, as also the presses therein, and that a large number of books and maps were destroyed: has any person been arrested in respect of this outrage; and have the local police any clue to the perpetrators?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. J. MORLEY,) Newcastle-upon-Tyne

It is a fact that on the night of the 22nd May the National school in question was broken into and a number of books and maps destroyed. No arrest has been made, but the police, who have strong suspicions as to the perpetrators, are investigating the matter.
