HC Deb 02 June 1893 vol 13 c43
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury why salary was paid to an officer in the Privy Council Office after the age of 70, such payment not being in accordance with the provisions of Clause 10 of the Order in Council of August 15, 1890; who is responsible for this contravention of the Order in Council, and whether payment to this gentleman has now been discontinued?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Sir J. T. HIBBERT,) Oldham

The gentleman in question was retained to meet a temporary emergency pending the appointment of a successor, which was made on January 30 last.
